Chatting to Claire at Passion Preserved would persuade even the most skeptical person that starting your own business is the.best.thing.ever. A former chartered accountant, Claire’s light bulb moment came when she saw a magnet (yes magnet) proclaiming, “this is the best time to be an old woman with no regrets”. And she though, why not?
Spurred on by friends, she began by selling her homemade preserves at a local craft fair. Two hours later she’d sold out and knew she was onto winner. Claire loves her job – one of her biggest passions is gardening and she grows most of the ingredients for her preserves in her back garden – from chillies and tomatoes to rhubarb and raspberries.
Claire’s enthusiasm and love for her job is infectious. It’s hands on and hard work, she reminds us. But it’s all worth it when she gets great feedback from customers. That’s what drives her – and the fact her husband bought her a new polytunnel for her birthday!
