WHY IT'S CRAVED
Tamarillo has a flavour somewhere between kiwi, guava, and passionfruit. Kiwis (the islanders, not the fruits) go crazy for Tamarillo chutney, and Kylee wanted to introduce this part of her heritage to a British audience.
The fruit was introduced to New Zealand in the late 19th century from South America, and Kiwis soon came to cultivate and crave it. When not eating them fresh, they started using them in baking, sauces, and chutneys.
HOW WE LIKE IT
This is the best thing to happen to breakfast eggs since caviar. We could call this a posh, exotic version of brown sauce, but it would not do it justice.
Tamarillo, onion, apple, raisin, brown sugar, white wine vinegar, salt, peppercorns, chilli, ginger, cinnamon, lime zest, lime juice
