A decade ago Rebecca Hansford and Ian Edwards decided to sell their insurance business to start a vineyard. They used the money to buy what had once been Rebecca's father's farm in Dorset for half a century. Ian returned to college to obtain a degree in wine studies, and their new venture was underway.
From the outset they've carefully controlled each part of the winemaking process, starting with planting every vine on the vineyard. And a decade later, Rebecca and Ian still continue to nurture the same vines growing on the family farm. They are still small enough to be directly involved in each step of the process.
The two have no plans to create the English equivalent of a large Champagne House and start buying grapes from other vineyards. Instead, their aim is to continue perfecting the wines growing on their own four fields and see whether they can continue adding to the impressive array of awards that they have already won in their first ten years.
