East Coast Chilli Company
“I wish I’d been made redundant earlier”. These are words that Tim Chapman, founder and chief chilli magician at the East Coast Chilli Company, never thought he’d say. In 2013, after too many years in the corporate world, the big R, forced Tim to re think his career.
Having always loved cooking and spicy food he started experimenting with chilli sauces and soon found a growing fan base amongst old colleagues and friend. After building the company from scratch and learning everything from branding to sourcing, Tim now produces 1000 bottles a week. In 2014 he released a rather good chilli cookbook too. There’s no stopping this man.
Tim aims to make delicious sauces with chilli rather than chilli sauces. “There’s a distinction”, he says. “Our sauces are for the gourmet – they aren’t made for bravado or challenges.” We concur Tim, and our hunch is we’ll be enforcing rations for fear we’ll gobble it up in one go.
